The Minnesota Navy League successfully lobbied former Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus to name a Littoral Combat Ship after the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.

In September 2015 SECNAV Ray Mabus announced at Target Field the naming of LCS 21 the
future USS Minneapolis/St Paul.

First steel has been cut and the Keel Authentication Ceremony will be held in January or February 2018

Our budget to support this commissioning will be in excess of $300,000, to include establishing a USS Minneapolis Saint Paul Scholarship with the University of Minnesota Foundation, as was done in the name of USS Minnesota SSN 783 in 2014.
